Savitri refused to accept his death and began following Yama, the god of death, as he carried Satyavan’s soul to the underworld. She pleaded with Yama to spare her husband’s life, but he refused. Savitri then used her wit and devotion to convince Yama to grant her three wishes. She asked for her father-in-law’s sight to be restored, for her father’s kingdom to be restored, and most importantly, for Satyavan’s life to be restored. Yama granted all three wishes and Satyavan was brought back to life.
