Anant Chaturdashi Fasting Story 2023

It is said that the very first Anant Chaturdashi fast was observed by the Pandavas. Lord Krishna suggested the Pandavas observe this fast. According to the legend, a long time ago there was an Ascetic (tapaswi), whose name was Sumant. His wife’s name was Diksha and his daughter’s name was Sushila. After the death of her mother, Sushila was married to Kaundinya Rishi. Sushila made an infinite/anant thread by keeping the fast of Anant Chaturdashi. This thread was broken by her husband Kaundinya by mistake. After this, Kaundinya became very sad due to the anger of Anant. When the sage realized his mistake after a long time, he fasted on Anant Chaturdashi with his wife and became happy again. Since then, this fast dedicated to Lord Anant and is observed by thousands of devotees every year.
