Mata Kalratri is one of the most fierce forms of Goddess Durga. Her complexion is very dark. She has very long hair and lets it loose. She wears a garland containing great energy and lighting around her neck. Mata Kalratri had three eyes and four hands. When she breathes, flames come out of her nostrils. Kaal means death and Kaalratri means the death of the dead. She controls all the past, future and present tenses under her. Her vehicle is a donkey. She has four hands and holds a very powerful weapon in two of those hands which is enough to destroy the enemies.

Mata Kalratri should be worshipped in a special way on the seventh day of Navratri. First of all worship of Lord Ganesha, Kartikeya, Goddess Saraswati, Lakshmi, Jaya, and Vijaya should be conducted in the place where the Ghatasthapana has been done. After this, by invoking Maa Kalratri, the devotees should offer flowers, new medicines, incense, and oil lamps to the goddess. Offering halwa and kheer to Maa is considered auspicious. It is good to recite ‘Goddess Sukta, Ratri Sukta’ at the time of worship of Maa Kalratri. At the same time, liquor is also offered to the Maa as Bhog in many places. However, there is no such binding ritual to do so. According to some legends, Mata Kalratri is worshipped even during the night on the seventh day of Navratri.
